Community Letter
The following is a small section of the letter that has gone out/is going out to TGT communities, along with two letters of support from the Mayor of the City of Greater Bendigo and the President of the Bendigo Chamber of Commerce.

The proposal
To construct a permanent, self-guided, 500 km walking & cycling trail, from Robe to Bendigo, that links 16 rural towns and cities that approximates the original route taken by Chinese gold seekers from 1857.

What's in it for you ?
This project aims to :
•  Bring tourists to your town
•  Link with other communities while strengthening your own
•  Create business opportunities for your town

Dear Sir/Madam

You are one of the key people/organizations in your town who/that have been identified as being likely to be interested in assisting this community project.

We seek your support to establish a permanent long distance walking and cycling trail - THE GOLDEN TRAIL - from Robe to Bendigo , that follows the route of the Chinese gold seekers from the 1850's. Your town and community is on this proposed route, and we believe there are considerable opportunities for your community through having national and international visitors to your town and region.

The trail will:

•  be approx. 500 km long and cater for a broad range of user groups
•  take about 30 days to walk from start to finish (and considerably less for cycle tourers), though it can be walked in numerous shorter segments.
•  use existing town services, eg food, transport and accommodation
•  provide additional accommodation, eg, in remoter areas.
•  aim to be an iconic walk trail
•  link 16 rural towns and cities.

What do we seek from you?

We seek to identify key people in your town who are champions - people who can see the potential in this project for both participants and communities, who understand the importance of developing and maintaining personal and professional relationships in community projects like this, who through their passion can motivate and organize others, who are a good team member and achieve results . We want action people.

Are you that person?

Can you forward this information to those that are, or complete the form attached and forward to us so we can contact them.

With thanks,
Peter Dingle
